IR(A) - Instrument Rating (Aeroplane)
General information
PPL(A) and CPL(A) license holders may extend their qualifications with IR(A) ratings which enables pilots to fly under instrument flight rules – IFR with a minimum decision height of 200 ft (60 m) as provided for in FCL.605 (b).
IR(A) Theory
THEORETICAL TRAINING IS 150H OF STUDY.
Training in a stationary mode or in the form of weekend meetings in the following subjects:
– Aviation law and air traffic procedures
– General knowledge about the plane
– Performance and planning
– Man, capabilities and limitations
– Meteorology
– Navigation
– Operational procedures
– Communication
IR(A) Practice
35H PRACTICAL EXERCISES in the air and in the FNTP II training simulator
This includes 20 hours of practical training in the FNTP II class training cabin and 15 hours on the SEP(L) class plane (or 50 hours if the training is to be carried out entirely on the plane).
Additional training on a multi-engine MEP(L) class for pilots with IR(A) licence on a single-engine SEP(L) aircraft is an additional 5h, of which 3h can be carried out in the training simulator.
IR(A) Requirements
PPL license with VFR ratings or CPL(A) license
Age:
at least 17 years old on the day of joining the training
Aero-medical certificate:
class 2
Hours built up to min.50h PIC of navigated flights (flight between a point of departure and a point of arrival following a pre-planned route, using standard navigation procedures).
